Fedex

Packing up, end of a cycle , strats of a new one. However before the new beginings you must deal with the practical issues of your previous life. One of this isssue is packing and sending your (small ) belongings to your next place.
That is when and why I went ot Fedex. To be honest I just wanted to play it safe (be sure that my stuff would reach) and also as usual I did everything at the last minute so that was pretty much the only option left.
So here I was going to the Fedex office in Nashik with 60 kg worth of various objects (God I never realised I had accumulated so much) fully confident of the american brand efficiency. I just had forgotten a small detail, I was in India and here nothing is the same and even the american way of organising can not stand a chance !!!!!
My boxes were subject to a careful (that the least I can say) examination and I pretty much had to open/close them at least 3 or 4 time. "Madam how come do you read so much", "Madam do you listen to hindi music, whatch hindi movies....." "madam CD kya hay (apparently Miles Davies is not yet a pop star in India !!!!)
The invoices were redone 3 times, Bombay office called at least twice.
So here I was , 2 hours later , 2 cup of chai later, ready to get the bill but .....no......power cut .....Madam you have to wait until the power comes again so that we can weight the boxes" ......aaargh......
It almost took me more time to do all the paper work than the time it will take my boxes to reach.....and all of that was done with patience ( can you please have less patience and slightly speed up the process !!!!) and a permanent smile.
It can only happen in India and I know ,now ,that is probably one of the reason I love that country so much. Whatever you do , where ever you are , things will never be standardised, a surprise will come your way and an indian touch will be added.
Gosh I'm going to miss that so much.
